You can use the App called Sock Puppets to re-tell stories, create their own stories, do book reviews, teach others about a topic or create expectations with your students. See Lauren's example below. She used Sock Puppets to teach students about bathroom expectations.

MYON Reader Great place for students to read and listen to electronic books. This site also has lots of teaching resources and lesson plans under Professional Services on the log in page. Students and teachers can access MYON from home or school on many different mobile devices. To access MYON reader: Teacher Log in: User name: active directory user name Password: password1 Student Log in: User name: Student ID#cps Password: student ID # LYNC This is installed on your desktop computer. You may also download the app on your iPad. It is free. Lync allows you to instant message anyone in the CPS district. You can send text message or video chat. It also allows you to attend staff development sessions from just about anywhere as long as you have access to the Internet. CPS is going to provide some staff development sessions through LYNC. To see the staff development LYNC sessions you need to access the Tech Services Training calendar. You access this from your Outlook email. Open email Click on Calendar Click on Open Calendar at the top of page (green plus sign) Click Address book Type in Tech services training and it will add the calendar to list of shared calendars you can view Learn 360 (located on CPS home page under schools, electronic resources) Great resource for videos to teach the standards. This resource is similar to Discovery Education (United Streaming). You can search by subject or topic, find a video and standards are located below the video. It provides short clips to popular movies like Shrek. To access the videos you will need to set up an account. See Tami for the code. PebbleGo (located on CPS home page under schools, electronic resources) Excellent resource for students in grades K-2 to research information. It provides audio versions of information, pictures,and short videos. The information is limited but the vocabulary is geared for our younger students. Blackboard- columbia.blackboard.com This is a place to access much of the same info you found on Angel. Tech services is in the process of changing over to Blackboard. BB will be live in October. Angel will be available all year as well. |
