I just read an article from Educational Leadership entitled:
The Uncommon Core. I know we are discussing the common core standards (CCS so thought I would share. The author, Jason Ohler, values the the CCS however suggests they are lacking in creativity and what he calls "the grammar of new media". He suggests that the traditional forms of literacy be integrated with a form of creativity he calls the "media collage". This involves creatively integrating elements of digital media with literacy. A primary example is designing a web page but we are also creating a media collage as we blog. Not only are we reading and writing as we blog, but we can add video, music and learning links to our blogs creating a "media collage". Check it out: http://www.educationalleadership-digital.com/educationalleadership/201302#pg44
